Guests at the 2017 Chefs for Kids’ Cancer NYC event will have the opportunity to bid on works of art by 19 artists from around the globe in an exclusive silent auction gallery at the cocktail reception. Artists working from New York City to Israel are represented with pieces that cover an array of art mediums. 15 adult artists, some of whom exhibit at MOMA, have contributed unique works for this special event. Inspired by Cookies for Kids’ Cancer and by kids helping other kids, four children have also donated drawings and paintings.

The exhibit is curated with love by Good Cookie Daniela Ben-Zion and hung by Sean Cavanaugh. Special thanks to our artists for donating their work, shown here. Click on the individual art pieces to see the artists’ biographies.

Breaking Records and Ringing Bells to Celebrate

Founder Gretchen Witt is joined by donor Janette Liptak, NYSE President Tom Farley, Milk Bar Founder & MasterChef Judge Christina Tosi, and 11 children to ring the closing bell of the NYSE.

Ringing in the holiday season has never been so sweet.

Yesterday when The New York Stock Exchange hosted Cookies for Kids’ Cancer to ring the closing bell, it was a record-breaking day for many reasons. The Dow closed at an all-time high of over 19,000. A gang of children on the podium were joined by founder Gretchen Holt Witt, and at exactly 4:00 p.m. when Ari Schlanger rang the bell and Taber Cannon brought the gavel down, they set the record for youngest people to ever have that honor.

That’s not all we’re ringing bells about. We are also celebrating the record-breaking $250,000 Challenge Gift Campaign happening now. The Challenge Gift, our largest ever, was made possible by the generosity of loyal donors Janette and David Liptak, who have pledged to match all money raised this holiday season up to $250,000. All donations, cookie orders, and grassroots events will be matched until the end of the year. Let’s all work towards a common goal so that on New Year’s Eve we’ll be ringing bells and popping champagne corks!

And last, but certainly not least, we are celebrating the announcement of the record-breaking day in our efforts to fund research aimed at pediatric cancers: the 2016 Cookies for Kids’ Cancer research grants. This year’s 11 grants to tremendously talented researchers across the country bring our grant total to nearly $12.5 million. That’s a lot of Good Cookies.

We were proud to ring the NYSE closing bell in honor of you. With your generosity and continued support we hope to make the 2016 holiday season record-breaking as well.

Filed under: community fundraising ideas, corporate fundraising — The Good Cookies @ 8:51 pm November 1, 2016

Rise to the Challenge Gift

Join our Challenge Gift Campaign. From November 1 through December 31, 2016, all gifts and donations to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer will be doubled, up to $250,000. The Challenge Gift Campaign was made possible by the generosity of loyal donors Janette and David Liptak who have pledged to match all money raised this holiday season up to $250,000.

“We were inspired by the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer organization because their mission is primarily focused on funding research to find cures for pediatric cancers,” said the Liptaks. “It’s a very specific mission and it’s been a very effective approach. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is literally saving lives every day. So we are happy that we are in a position to be able to support their mission in a meaningful way.”

We offer many ways for everyone to join the campaign and double your donation for childhood cancer research this holiday season:

Host a Holiday Event

Gather friends and family to have fun and make a difference. From bake sales to cookie swaps, holiday events are great ways to spread holiday cheer while raising funds for critically needed research.

Send Cookies

Our delicious, all-natural cookies are the perfect holiday gift. With the 10 mouth-watering flavors and 100% of the profits going to pediatric cancer research, our cookies are the gift that truly gives twice.

Make a Donation

At Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, you can select the type of pediatric cancer your gift supports. In time for year-end tax-deductible donations, give in someone’s honor, and see more ways to help. Cancer remains the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S., but with your support, we can continue to make a difference.

Denny’s LOVES Good Cookies!

Denny’s across the US help raise funds for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer this July

Since 2011, select Denny’s in Arizona and New York have held an annual month-long campaign to raise funds for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. This year we are pleased to welcome Denny’s stores back! Throughout the month of July, nearly 50 stores are joining the cause and hosting events to help children battling cancer.

How it Works:

In exchange for a donation of their choice, customers can write their name or personal message on paper cookie. The “cookie” will then be added to a collection displayed throughout the restaurant. Every dollar raised will go to research for childhood cancer, the number one disease killer of children in the U.S.

To date, the Arizona and New York Denny’s have raised half of a million dollars for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. These funds are currently at work as a part of five research grants looking for new and less toxic treatments for pediatric cancer. Help us grant another $100,000 this July by stopping by a participating Denny’s near you. If everyone gives a little, it will add up to a lot and help make a difference for children fighting cancer.

#36aDay

Filed under: community fundraising ideas, corporate fundraising — The Good Cookies @ 2:48 pm October 19, 2015

36 faces (3) (1)

Every day, 36 families will hear the words “your child has cancer”. These four words turn whole worlds upside down. With your help, Cookies For Kids’ Cancer gives hope to children diagnosed by raising funds for research to develop new, less toxic, more effective treatments for the disease that claims the lives of more children than any other. In honor of every child diagnosed, we invite you to join the #36aDay campaign to raise money to fund a new research project.

What is #36aDay?

Never forget – 36 is the number of kids diagnosed with cancer each day in the US. And now with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, #36aday is a campaign that will get you moving while also raising money for research. What does “get moving” mean?

  • Simple: lace up your ASICS sneakers then run, walk, bike, or take a class for at least 36 minutes.

  • Don’t want to lace up? Lie down! Take a yoga or pilates class that’s at least 36 minutes long and dedicate your time to children battling cancer.

  • Like to swim? That counts, too. Jump in, swim laps and make it count for kids by going at least 36 minutes.

Truth: it doesn’t matter what you do, just get moving to honor the 36 children being diagnosed with cancer every single day.

How does #36aDay help kids?

In a word: fundraising. Through Cookies for Kids’ Cancer’s #36aday campaign, you can be a part of a national campaign of people who are on the move to make a difference for kids battling cancer. Join the overall campaign, start your own personal fundraising page, and then inspire your friends, family, neighbors or colleagues to donate in support of your efforts and in honor of kids. What are the next steps?

  • Register to join Cookies for Kids’ Cancer’s #36aday fundraising campaign.

  • Set two goals – first, set a personal goal. Do you want to get moving EVERY day for a month? Or maybe 3 times a week while training for a race? Are you trying to lose weight/get healthy/stay fit? Whatever the reason to get moving, don’t be afraid to name your personal goal and then do it for kids!

  • Second goal – fundraising. The way to help kids is by funding research, so inspire everyone you know to give. The more you raise, the bigger the difference you will make. Want to match dollar for dollar what the Federal Government gives for Phase 1 Clinical Trials? Raise $2,000. Or make your fundraising symbolic – perhaps raising $36 a day for 100 straight days. These are just two ideas – Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is happy to help you set a goal. . .and reach it.

  • Final step: share, share, share. Use your goals to educate your friends about childhood cancer and inspire them to support your goals. Send emails to everyone explaining why you are committed to #36aday, and don’t forget to share how close you are to meeting your goals. Even have fun with your updates – post pictures on social media that show your sneakers laced up, your yoga mat on the floor, or your elliptical timer at the beginning of a 36 minute workout. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer will help you with sample social media posts and reminders to keep going to meet your goals.

How to Host a Pint Challenge

Filed under: community fundraising ideas, corporate fundraising — Tags: — The Good Cookies @ 6:12 pm October 9, 2015

Hosting your own Pint Challenge is a great way to get the community involved in raising funds for pediatric cancer research! Not everyone can be America’s next Betty Crocker and make enough treats to host a bake sale, without the fear of burning down the kitchen – some members of our team included! That’s why we are so excited about the idea to host a Pint Challenge because you don’t need to go near a bag of flour to make a difference.

Go to register.cookiesforkidscancer.org as soon as you decide to host an event

We want you to register so that we can provide you with personalized help to make organizing your event as easy as possible!

Reach out to local breweries (or wineries)

Ask as many local venues if they want to Be A Good Cookie and donate a portion of a certain beer or wine to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. Check out the templates on our website for how to ask a business to get involved.

Promote your event

Now it’s time to brag about your event to all of your friends, family, and community! Make sure that everyone knows about the Good Cookie brewery or winery and that they are ready to drink during the Challenge days.

Drink for a cause!

Now, wasn’t that easier than breaking out the flour and eggs?

Thank You Taste Buds Kitchen

Tastebuds

“Ain’t no mountain high enough” was the thought process of one 4-year old baker selling his creations at a bake sale this summer. His selling strategy of shouting this quote at people walking on the street helped Taste Buds Kitchen raise $7,048.56 for childhood cancer research this summer.

Taste Buds is a kid-friendly culinary experience by day and a BYOB Adult Kitchen by night with seven locations around the country. It has been a supporter of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer since 2011 and they have raised $22,893.25 to date for childhood cancer research.

This summer they encouraged the kids in their cooking camps to host bake sales to support Cookies for Kids’ Cancer as a part of the cooking camps in New York, NY, in Southlake TX and North Anover, MA.

The students baked chocolate chip cookies, brownies, sugar cookies and oatmeal cookies for the bake sale but some of the older kids had creative control over what to bake. Some whipped up special treats like mint chocolate chip and coconut cardamom.

We want to THANK the Good Cookies at Taste Buds Kitchen for all of the hard work they do to help us end childhood cancer, the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S.

Inspired to host your own bake sale? Head to register.cookiesforkidscancer.org to find out more!
