30,000 cookies is only part of the news. . .

On Friday more than 100 volunteers spent 18+ hours baking, cooling, packing, sealing and boxing 30,000 cookies as part of the 3rd annual Cookies for Kids’ Cancer cookie bake-a-thon.

Yesterday, most of us could barely hold our eyes open.

But, in the world of pediatric cancer, there is no time to rest on the laurels of even an extraordinary accomplishment like baking 30,000 cookies in one day thanks to a volunteer army. {And by the way, Friday was amazing.} In the world of kids’ cancer, where science is ready and waiting for the money needed to introduce new and improved therapies that can save kids’ lives, we must get up and keep moving forward. And so, I’m back with some news for you!

First, if you haven’t heard, the Glad Products Company {www.glad.com} is partnering with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer this holiday season to raise awareness for pediatric cancer. But Glad doesn’t stop at awareness (or at awesome storage products for that matter). Glad is matching all funds raised by Cookies this month and next month, up to $100,000. And to involve as many people as possible, Glad is encouraging consumers to host more bake sales by offering a special Glad/Cookies for Kids’ Cancer bake sale starter kit when you register your bake sale at www.cookiesforkidscancer.org.

And there’s more! This week in New York City, Glad is officially launching the partnership with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer through a citywide event featuring celebrity spokesperson Joan Cusack as well as, of course, COOKIES. On Tuesday, November 10th, Joan Cusack is going to be on the 4th hour of the Today Show, then she’s going to come downstairs to Rockefeller Center, hop on the Cookie Stop truck to distribute cookies, accept donations and spread the word about pediatric cancer to people on the street at Manhattan’s hot spots. And that’s where you come in.

Want a cookie? Want to make a donation? Want to volunteer? Well, we want you to join us!
