Thank you for making 2009 a year to remember!

Thank you for making 2009 a year to remember!

We’re moments away from saying goodbye to 2009. . .bye-bye, see ya, whew – it’s over! People witnessed and experienced stress and heartache, shocks and saddness few could have anticipated as we rang in this year 365 days ago.

And while 2009 seemed to be a wake up call to generations who watched happy little bubbles burst around jobs, housing, and retirement funds, to those hip-deep in the world of pediatric cancer, 2009 was another year of holding on to hope, believing in miracles, and fighting to raise the much-needed funds for long-awaited cures that will make healthy the 13,000 children diagnosed each year with pediatric cancer.

And as the year slogged on for many, we at Cookies for Kids’ Cancer embraced each passing day with newfound hope and strength thanks to YOU – the hundreds of bake sale hosts, individuals who bought cookies from our online store, families who made donations and even the passersby who stopped, dropped a dollar in a donation jar for a cookie.

So thanks for showing up if you heard about us in a magazine or newspaper, from a friend or at a bake sale. And thanks for coming back if you supported us in the past. Thanks for understanding what it means to be a Good Cookie. Thank you for being here in 2009. We cannot wait to see what 2010 brings. . .

Look who’s talking. . .

Just in case you haven’t heard, LOTS of people are talking about Cookies for Kids’ Cancer these days. Just to name a few. . .

The one and only Joan Cusack appeared on the Today Show 4th hour with Hoda and Kathie Lee, plus The Martha Stewart Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Wake up with Al Roker. On each program, she spoke to the need for pediatric cancer research funds as well as the amazing opportunity for your support to go twice as far this holiday season thanks to the Glad Products Company. Glad is matching all funds raised by Cookies this holiday season, up to $100,000, and Joan Cusack used her time to encourage viewers everywhere to get involved in our cause. . .

Then, co-founder Gretchen Witt, with kids Liam and Ella, is featured in O the Magazine for December 2009, with an amazing article about the beginnings of this non-profit and the profound need for funds. Have you bought your copy? Just in case, read below. . .

After that, our Cookies for Kids’ Cancer cookies – with four new flavors to choose from – received a lovely mention in Family Circle Magazine’s Inner Circle. Check it out. . .

Family Circle Magazine's Inner Circle highly recommended our Cookies as holiday gifts.

Then came the Holiday Gift Guides. . .Parade Magazine, Ladies’ Home Journal, and Redbook all recommended our cookies to readers as a perfect gift to give during the holidays.

Finally, other blogs started mentioning Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. . .sharing personal stories of hope and inspiration at bake sales across the country, like this amazing Texan on her blog Up to the Moon. While others simply recommended supporting the Cookies/Glad partnership with a bake sale or buying cookies, like on Cool Mom Picks.

And thanks in part to all this word of mouth, we’ve welcomed more than 500 new bake sale hosts into the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer family. And for that, we are truly thankful.

We hope, like so many others, you are inspired to support Cookies for Kids’ Cancer this holiday season. Your support makes a difference. Host a bake sale, buy cookies, donate online.

Thank you for being a Good Cookie.
